Even more baffling are the events of the end of Book 2 of LOK when Aang appeared to Tenzin when he was trapped in the foggy spirit prison while Avatar Korra was elsewhere. If she did, I would expect her to reckon with the fact that Tenzin is technically her son and that Katara was once her wife. If reincarnation is supposed to be the same spirit wearing different bodies in succession, why does each incarnation of the Avatar appear to behave as if they are a separate spirit? There are many instances where the Avatar says "Kyoshi did this" or "Roku did that" rather than "I did this two lifetimes ago." When the Avatars meditate to "contact" their previous lives, they are conversing with separate personalities rather than recollecting their own continuous experience.Īvatar Korra does not behave as if she were a continuation of Aang's personality.
